Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is planning a renewed bid for France international Karim Benzema after their initial £31m was rejected by Real Madrid.

Benzema has been constantly linked with a switch to the Emirates in spite of his agent claiming that the player will remain at the Bernabeu beyond the summer.

According to The Telegraph, the Gunners will return with a second bid of around £35m for their long-term target.

It is thought that Wenger is keen on sealing the services of his French counterpart before the start of the new season.
