The Uruguayan international was considered as top transfer target for City boss Manuel Pellegrini, as he seeks to overturn the club\'s pre-season malaise.

However, The Mirror cites that the talented centre-back is in no hurry to leave Atletico Madrid, and will sign a new contract extension in the upcoming week.

Godin made 46 appearances for the Basque outfit in all competitions last season.
