Netherlands international Jonathan de Guzman will join Premier League side Sunderland on a season-long loan, according to an Italian source.

The Dutch midfielder had a great times at Swansea City during his two-year loan spell between 2012 and 2014.

He has since then moved on to Napoli were he has struggled to make himself a regular in the starting line-up.

Italian site Gianluca di Marzio cites that the Black Cats will sign the talented playmaker on a temporary basis, with a view to a permanent switch further down the line.

Black Cats boss Dick Advocaat has recently stated that he is open to offloading anyone from his squad following a dismal start to the league campaign.
