Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is understood to have made a shocking phone call to Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba last month.
The Blues were seemingly desperate to land the France international during the summer transfer window.
French publication L'Equipe now reports that the Portuguese head coach had made a pleading phone call to persuade the 22-year-old to return to the Premier League.
However, the former Manchester United graduate had rejected the offer as he feared it could dent his preparations for Euro 2016 in his home country.
Pogba joined Juventus from Manchester United in January 2012.
