The German international has been a consistent performer for the Bavarian giants in recent seasons, and this has attracted interest from top clubs in the Premier League.

Calciomercato understands that United boss Louis van Gaal was keen on a reunion with his former player, and had made a club-record offer for his services.

However, Bayern were not keen on offloading their star man, with Pep Guardiola considering the 26-year-old as an important player in his tactical setup.

Muller has scored 129 goals in 349 games for his club till date.
