Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is reportedly lining up a winter deal for Empoli midfielder Riccardo Saponara.

The German coach is expected to have the final say on the club's transfer business in the New Year.

According to Tuttosport, Klopp has requested the club's officials to launch a January bid for the 23-year-old, who has impressed for the Serie A side over the past year.

It is added that the Reds could face stiff competition with arch rivals Everton and Juventus also believed to be monitoring proceedings.

Empoli currently rate Saponara at around £14.2m.
