Defoe to Newcastle?

Defoe to Newcastle?

12 January 2008 - 10:10

Unwanted Tottenham forward Jermain Defoe has been linked with a move to Newcastle in an £8 million deal. The former West Ham striker could be set to join Harry Redknapp if he goes to St James Park.

  • Man Utd attacker pushing to be fit for Chelsea game

  • Defoe has fallen out of favour under Juande Ramos, and behind the pecking order behind teh impressive Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane, and Darren Bent on the bench.

A lot of this speculation is seen to be resting on whether Redknapp completes his rumoured move to Portsmouth.

“Harry will be in charge of the team on Sunday," said Pompey coach Joe Jordan. "He is up there at the moment but I expect him to still be here because he has not said anything about leaving. It does not come as a surprise that Newcastle are interested. It is a big job — but so is Portsmouth.”
