Jose Mourinho confident of Costa stay

14 December 2015 - 06:52

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has ruled out the possibility of star striker Diego Costa leaving the club in the near future.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • The Brazilian-born forward had recently hinted that he could consider a possible return to Atletico Madrid following a lacklustre start to the current campaign.

However, the Portuguese head coach has insisted that the Spain international is happy at Stamford Bridge and expects the player to see out his contract.

"He is happy here. He's another one who has, I think, three more years [on his] contract. I see him staying at Chelsea for three more years, no problem. I see that. " the 52-year-old told reporters.

"He said in football you never know. Atletico is a great club. Madrid is a great city. La Liga is a great league. So why can't a player at 27 years old think that in football it's possible to be back? I don't see that as a problem."

Costa joined the Premier League holders from Atleti in the summer of 2014.
