Redknapp turns down Toon

12 January 2008 - 11:23

Harry Redknapp has reportedly turned down the chance to move to Newcastle. The Portsmouth manager was given until midday on Saturday to make a decision regarding his future; and it seems as if Redknapp has decided to stay at Fratton Park.

  • Chelsea ready new contract for star midfielder
  • Chelsea make first move to sign Xabi Alonso
  • Redknapp arrived at Pompey's Eastleigh training ground Saturday morning and told reporters he was staying with the club.

The news will be a welcome boost for Portsmouth who Redknapp is slowly building into a formidable side as they sit in eighth place in the Premiership, only two points off of UEFA Cup qualification.

The 60 year old had been hotly tipped to take over and was made favorite for the vacant job after Sam Allardyce left, but it seems his future will lie at Portsmouth.
