Real Madrid want Newcastle United flop

02 January 2016 - 07:10

Real Madrid have expressed interest in signing Nice attacker Hatem Ben Arfa, manager Claude Puel claims.

  • Chelsea prepared to sell £40m striker with Newcastle keen
  • Liam Rosenior confirms Chelsea star is out for six weeks
  • The France international has shown glimpses of his old self following his return to Ligue 1 with Nice.

According to Nice boss Puel, Ben Arfa's showing has not gone unnoticed with Spanish giants Real Madrid said to be keeping a keen eye on his proceedings.

"I am not surprised to hear that big clubs such as Real Madrid are keeping tabs on him. Hatem has become part of the club, just like Mathieu Bodmer when he joined us from PSG," he told Nice Matin

"I do not agree with those who say Hatem needs to be at a small club in order to deliver his best performances. I hope for him that he no longer plays for Nice next season."

The 28-year-old has scored seven times in 18 league outings for Nice this season.
