Swansea City striker Bafetimbi Gomis could be allowed to leave Wales and join Premier League relegation rivals Newcastle United this month. Gomis could follow Jonjo Shelvey away from the Liberty Stadium.
Gomis had originally hoped to have replaced Wilfried Bony as first choice striker at Swansea after the Ivorian's departure, but the striker has failed to live up to expectations and could now be set for a surprise move to a rival Premier League team.
Marseille and Rennes in Ligue 1 are also believed to have been in contact with the Swans regarding Gomis' availability, but the striker is said to favour a link up with Newcastle United manager Steve McLaren instead.
Gomis is reportedly on the market for a fee of approximately 10 million GBP.
