Manchester City have began negotiations to bring Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets to the Premier League.

The 27-year-old developed himself into a first-team regular during Pep Guardiola's managerial stint at Barcelona.

Spanish daily Sport claims that the Citizens have made contact with Busquets' representatives over a potential move away from the Catalan giants.

It is added that the midfield enforcer could be tempted to make the switch, given his good understanding with incoming boss Guardiola.

City confirmed earlier this month that Guardiola would take over the reigns from Manuel Pellegrini in the summer.
