The France international joined the Catalan giants from Spanish side Valencia in 2014, and played an influential role in their treble winning campaign.

However, the 32-year-old has struggled for sufficient playing time this season, and this has led to claims that he may bid adieu to the European champions.

Spanish source Fichajes says the versatile defender has requested his representatives to contact Monaco regarding a summer move.

Mathieu has made just nine league starts for Luis Enrique's side this term.
