Kompany to keep his City place

Vincent Kompany set to stay

22 March 2016 - 13:17

Incoming Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola will not offload Vincent Kompany in the summer despite his ongoing injury troubles.

  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players
  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts

  • The Belgian international has been a key member of the Citizens squad that he has won two Premier League titles over the past lustrum.

Recent speculation had suggested that Kompany could make way from the Etihad at the end of the season with Guardiola eager to freshen up his backline this summer.

However, The Mirror understands that the Spanish head coach is likely to keep hold of the club skipper despite his struggles to earn regular playing time this term.

Kompany has had a series of calf problems in recent months, and this has stumbled the club's pursuit for a third league crown.

The 29-year-old has made just 13 league appearances for City this season.
