Premier League giants Chelsea are ready to step up their interest in Atletico Madrid hotshot Antoine Griezmann.

Incoming Blues boss Antonio Conte is expected to reinforce his squad in the summer after the club endured their worst spell in many seasons.

According to The Mirror, France international Griezmann is the leading candidate in the shortlist, and the Blues are confident of luring him on a bumper wage contract.

However, Atleti are unlikely to accept the player's sale following yet another impressive campaign in Spain and Europe.

Griezmann has amassed 20 league goals for Atleti, who are trailing Barcelona on goal difference in La Liga.
