Manchester United are said to have finalized a £40m fee to sign highly-rated Benfica youngster Renato Sanches. The 18-year-old has caught the eye of several European clubs through his impressive showing in the Primeira Liga this season.
United have been in crunch negotiations with Benfica in recent months, and according to The Mirror, the Mancunian giants look to have finally wrapped up an agreement for the player's transfer.
Benfica were initially holding out for £54m, but United have brought down the fee to £40m plus a further £6m to be adjusted in performance-based add ons.
Arch-rivals Manchester City and Real Madrid had also been credited with interest for the young sensation.
Sanches has featured in 21 outings for Benfica since his first-team debut last October.
