Now the name Paco Jemez may not be a name most Premier League fans are familiar with but he was the man who recently topped a poll in the giant Spanish Marca newspaper to be the man to succeed Vicente del Bosque as the national team manager after the European Championships in the summer.
Francisco Jémez Martín to give him his full name is currently manager at Madrid based Rayo Vallecano who do sit in the relegation places in La Liga but are still able to survive but is a highly regarded coach in Spain and is known for playing some of the best football outside of the two major Madrid clubs and Barcelona on a shoestring budget.
The 46-year-old former Las Palmas Manager has been linked with Watford recently to replace Quique Sanchez Flores who himself is being linked with jobs back in his native Spain and ever so quietly to replace the seemingly doomed Roberto Martinez on Merseyside.
Watford would be an interesting option for Jémez as they have consolidated in their first season back in the Premier League under the likeable Flores and with the backing of the Pozzo family who have invested heavily already, he could have a chance to really kick the Hertfordshire based club on but he may be wary as the Watford board seem to have lost faith in Flores very quickly.
Recent pressure on Martinez at Everton has started the rumour mill up and with former Toffees manager David Moyes heavily linked many see that as a done deal but noises from Goodison are saying otherwise, although they are concerned with the current slump in form they have enjoyed the more expansive football played under the former Wigan Manager and that is something that Jémez would bring with him from the Campo de Fútbol de Vallecas.
Both clubs would like the fact that he has led Los Franjirrojos to mid-table finishes in the very competitive La Liga on a small wage bill in comparison to other clubs by unearthing youngsters released from larger clubs and reviving journeyman careers that have stalled.
Options in Spain are limited for Paco but with Vicente del Bosque resigning as Spain boss after Euro 2016 maybe the Premier League clubs will act quickly rather than risk missing out.
