Arsenal are reported to have triggered the release clause of Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy. The England international had a splendid season in the Foxes shirt as he guided them to their first-ever Premier League triumph last term.
Vardy, 29, had been the subject of speculation earlier in the year before he penned a three-and-a-half extension with Claudio Ranieri's men. He has since been in fine touch for the East Midlands side getting in the necessary goals to help them attain an unprecedented and historic league title.
BBC Sport says the Gunners have made a bid of around £20m which coincidentally activates the player's escape clause.
The striker is now open to discussing terms with the North London giants but the Foxes are hopeful that they can keep hold of their main player ahead of their Champions League challenge next season.
