Liverpool are prepared to offer Jordan Ibe as bait in a deal to sign Southampton winger Sadio Mane. The Senegalese international has caught the eye of Reds boss Jurgen Klopp following his impressive showing in the back end of last season.

Mane had a slow start to his second year at St.Mary's with many suggesting that he could be the victim of second season syndrome.

However, he developed his game through the festive period, and found himself the lynchpin of the Saints' attack as they finished sixth in the league with their highest-ever points tally.

The Sun claims that the Reds will look to step up their interest for the 25-year-old with a player-plus-cash deal which would include Ibe as makeweight.

Ibe, 20, had a tough time under Klopp last term, and a move away from Anfield is likely to benefit his progress.
