German champions Bayern Munich are apparently heading the queue to sign Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly. The Senegalese international has iterated his desire to pursue a fresh challenge, should he fail to earn a contract extension at Naples.
According to Bild, the Bavarian giants have stepped up their interest in the central defender despite acquiring the services of Mats Hummels from Borussia Dortmund recently.
The likes of Manchester United and Chelsea have been making slow strides towards the 24-year-old in recent weeks, but Bayern are confident that the lure of Champions League could well lead the player to Germany ahead of next season.
Koulibaly has made 81 appearances for the Serie A outfit since his move from Genk in 2014.
