Manchester City have shifted their attention to Atletico Madrid defender Jose Gimenez. The Uruguayan international has been a key performer for the La Liga giants over the past year.
According to Spanish daily AS, the Citizens have set their sights on Gimenez after top target Aymeric Laporte snubbed their advances to sign a new long-term deal with Athletic Bilbao.
The Mancunian giants are thought to have made the decision on the guidance of new head coach Pep Guardiola.
Gimenez, who is also a transfer target for Barcelona, can ply his trade at either centre-back or on the right side of defence.
The 21-year-old appeared in 37 games for Diego Simeone's side last season.
