Nainggolan confirms talks between Roma and Chelsea

Talks ongoing between Roma and Chelseas for Nainggolan

Nainggolan confirms talks between Roma and Chelsea

24 June 2016 - 09:37

Ever since Antonio Conte was announced as the next manager of Chelsea, there have been rumours suggesting that he will try to lure Radja Nainggolan to Stamford Bridge, and now the player has confirmed that negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing.

  • Mauricio Pochettino confirms fresh injury blow for Chelsea star
  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • "It happens every summer." Nainggolan said in a press-conference. "If I’ve to stay at Roma then I’d be happy. The Giallorossi and Chelsea are still talking, but at the moment I’m focused on the Euros."

Newspaper reports in the British press have linked the Blues with a bid of up to £32 million for the Roma midfielder, and with Nainggolan's latest admission that talks have been held, it would appear that Chelsea's interest is serious.

Conte does not take over at Stamford Bridge until after the ongoing UEFA European Championship in France, where he is managing the Italy squad in their quest for glory.

But it is known that the former Juventus coach has been in regular contact with his new club, and has made them aware of the transfer targets he desires.

And the 28-year-old box-to-box midfielder is thought to be top of Conte's list. Nainggolan made 35 Serie A appearances last season, scoring six goals and registering one assist.

Having already lost Miralem Pjanic to Juventus this summer, Roma will be reluctant to sell another midfielder, but Chelsea's determination to get their man could yet prove successful.
