Manchester United are still in negotiations with Juventus to sign French midfielder Paul Pogba. The 23-year-old is free to leave the Old Lady provided they receive a world-record fee for his services.
Pogba has been the subject of transfer speculation in recent weeks with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Real Madrid among the clubs interested in his signature.
According to The Star, the Red Devils have jumped ahead of Real in the chase after they held advanced negotiations for the player, who is the prime target for Jose Mourinho this summer.
However, the £97m deal could have some complications with agent Mino Raiola looking to pocket at least £20m from the proposed agreement.
The France international joined the Old Lady from United on a Bosman in 2012.
