Liverpool are apparently heading the queue to sign Newcastle midfielder Moussa Sissoko. The Frenchman has been tipped to leave the Tyneside outfit after they were relegated to the Championship.

Sissoko, 26, has already expressed his desire to move on as he is not keen on plying his trade for a second-tier English outfit.

French source L'Equipe suggests that the Reds are leading the chase for the midfielder who is in favour of a Premier League stay next season.

The Magpies have already rebuffed &pound9m bid from Hamburg, but it is believed that fee of around &pound12m would be enough to convince them into the player's sale.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is on the lookout for a new midfielder despite having recently acquired the services of Sadio Mane from Southampton.

Sissoko is among a three-man shortlist which also includes Piotr Zielinski and Mahmoud Dahoud.
