Costa largely struggled to impress during the previous campaign, and it was not until the New Year that he found a glimpse of his old self.

According to The Star, the 27-year-old has told the Blues' hierarchy to cash in on his services with former club Atleti hot on his trail.

Diego Simeone's side have already tabled an initial £40m offer, and a meeting is likely to be held between the clubs to sort out the player's future.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are closing in on their first summer signing with Marseille frontman Michy Batshuayi having undergone a successful medical over a £33m deal.
