Fiorentina star Mario Gomez has emerged as a fresh target for West Ham United in this summer's transfer window. The Hammers are on the search for a new striker after they failed in their approach for Michy Batshuayi.
Batshuayi, 22, was leaning towards a £31m move to East London until Chelsea came up with interest of their own for his services.
The Express says the Hammers could go head-to-head with Besiktas in the pursuit for Gomez, who had an impressive loan spell with the latter last season.
The 30-year-old netted 26 goals for Besiktas last term as they went on to clinch their first Turkish title in seven years.
Fiorentina currently value their asset in excess of £4m, and this puts the Hammers in the front-foot, given Besiktas are in a tight rope with the Financial Fair Play ruling.
Gomez will take no more part for Germany at Euro 2016 having suffered a hamstring injury.
