Takuma to join Arsenal

Arsenal sign Japanese striker

04 July 2016 - 06:16

Arsenal are reported to have wrapped up a deal for Japanese striker Takuma Asano from J-League side Sanfrecce Hiroshima. The 21-year-old will become the Gunners' second signing of the summer subject to a medical.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Man Utd serious about signing Rafael Leao
  • The Gunners have kept close track on the player's developments over the past year, and Arsene Wenger believes he could be a top prospect for the future.

“Takuma is a talented young striker and very much one for the future,” Wenger told the club's official website. “He has had an impressive start to his career in Japan and we look forward to him developing over the next couple of years.”

The North London outfit made their move for the Asian frontman after they failed to secure the services of Jamie Vardy, who opted to pen a contract extension at champions Leicester City.

Takuma has earned five caps for Japan with his debut coming in August last year.
