Sidibe on Gunners radar

Arsenal want Djibril Sidibe

08 July 2016 - 06:59

Arsenal have joined Southampton in the hunt to sign highly-rated Lille defender Djibril Sidibe. The Frenchman is regarded as one of the best full-backs currently plying their trade in Ligue 1.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • Sidibe has been in talks with the likes of Southampton and Monaco in recent weeks following an excellent season with Lille that saw him make the standy list for France at Euro 2016.

According to French publication L'Equipe, the Gunners have decided to step up their interest in the young full-back with manager Arsene Wenger being a strong admirer of the player's talents.

The 23-year-old can feature on either side of the central defenders, and this provides the Gunners with the much-needed versatility ahead of a potential tough campaign next term.

Sidibe has racked 92 league appearances for Lille since his move from Troyes in 2012.
