Spurs set to seal Janssen capture

08 July 2016 - 11:35

Vincent Janssen appears to be on the brink of a move to Tottenham Hotspur, as the young striker was spotted leaving AZ Alkmaar's training ground this morning.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • Janssen was seen leaving AZ's training ground sparking speculation that he is on his way to London to complete a move to Spurs.

Sky Sports is reporting this morning that Tottenham and AZ are close to agreeing a fee for the 22-year-old striker, and it now appears that the player could seal his move to north London as early as today.

Tottenham are thought to be in the market for a striker this summer, with the aim of providing competition and and alternative to England hitman Harry Kane, with the idea being that Spurs will be less reliant on their star man to carry the goal scoring burden next season.

Manager Mauricio Pochetinno seems to have identified Janssen as the man for the job, and after weeks of speculation, the deal may now be close to being completed.

Janssen signed for AZ from Almere City last summer and scored an impressive 27 goals in 34 Eredivisie games last season. In addition to his displays in the Dutch league, Janssen has scored three goals in five matches for the Netherlands national side -- including a goal against England at Wembley earlier this year.

It was reported that French champions Paris Saint Germain were also interested in Janssen, but it was the player's preference to join Spurs.
