Sunderland have emerged as surprise candidates to pursue the services of Arsenal full-back Carl Jenkinson this summer. The 24-year-old is considering his Gunners' future having spent the past two seasons on loan at West Ham United.
Jenkinson is currently the Gunners' fourth-choice right-back behind the likes of Hector Bellerin, Calum Chambers and Mathieu Debuchy.
Sources reveal Black Cats boss Sam Allardyce could lodge a formal offer for the Charlton Athletic product having lost hopes of signing DeAndre Yedlin from Tottenham Hotspur.
Yedlin impressed in his temporary spell at Wearside last term, and this looks to have urged Spurs to keep hold of their young asset.
Jenkinson is likely to be available in the £6m range this summer.
