Everton and Juventus want Sissoko

Juventus and Everton prepare £35m Sissoko bid

21 July 2016 - 11:15

Juventus and Everton are set to do battle over the signing of Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko, according to reports.

  • Chelsea favourites to sign £80m Premier League star
  • Arsenal expected to sign Saint-Etienne striker?

  • The Guardian is reporting that both Juventus and Everton are ready to meet Newcastle's £35 million valuation of the French midfielder.

Juventus view Sissoko as a potential replacement for Paul Pogba, who appears to be set to make a world record £100 million move to Manchester United.

Juve have already bolstered their midfield with the addition of Bosnian playmaker Miralem Pjanic from AS Roma for €32 million this summer, but Sissoko would fit the bill to replace Pogba's energy and drive in midfield.

Everton are in the market for a new midfielder this summer, having been strongly linked with a move for Zenit St Petersburg's Axel Witsel.

However, Witsel appears to be close to joining Napoli, so the Toffees have been forced to re-evaluate their options, and Sissoko is a player who they desire.

The Merseysiders are operating with a far greater transfer budget than ever before this summer, thanks to the investment of Iranian billionaire Farhad Moshiri, who has purchased a 49 per cent stake in the club.

And Everton's finances could be further increased by the potential £50 million sale of defender John Stones to Manchester City.

Everton are keen to hold on to the 22-year-ol England defender, and are demanding a record fee for a defender if they are to consider selling.
