Arsenal still in for Mauro Icardi

31 July 2016 - 06:27

Arsenal are ready to lodge club-record bid for Inter Milan star Mauro Icardi, should they fail to land Alexandre Lacazette. The Gunners are desperate to bring in a new striker ahead of the new season.

  • Chelsea join Liverpool & Man Utd in race to sign 26yo
  • Barcelona identify Arsenal midfielder as key transfer target

  • The Gunners are expected to come up with a fresh offer for Lacazette after Lyon rebuffed their initial £29m bid for the France international.

According to The Star, the North London side could revive their interest in Icardi, should Lyon remain reluctant to offload their marksman over the summer.

Icardi's wife and agent Wanda Nara is rumoured to have recently held discussions with the Gunners' hierarchy, but it would take a record £50m sum to test Inter's resolve.

Meanwhile, the Nerazzurri have recently ruled out the sale of their club-captain in the summer transfer window.

Despite his prowess at club level, Icardi has earned just a solitary cap for Argentina back in 2013.
