Mancini leaves Inter Milan as De Boer takes over

Former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has left Inter Milan by mutual consent, with Ronald De Boer stepping in to become the club's new coach.

  • Chelsea midfielder wants to play in Olympic games
  • Arsenal favourites to sign French winger ahead of Chelsea

  • Inter Milan have parted ways with manager Roberto Mancini just weeks before the new Serie A season is due to get underway.

The Italian coach was rumoured to have been unhappy in his position for some time, having grown frustrated at the lack of signings made by the club's new Chinese owners, the Suning Group.

And it now seems that that frustration has come to a head, with both Mancini and the club agreeing to part ways.

Former Ajax manager Frank De Boer will replace Mancini at the San Siro, as the Nerazzurri look to re-establish themselves as one of Italy's top club's next season.

De Boer spend five and a half seasons in charge of the famous Amsterdam club, winning four successive Eredivisie titles. The former Barcelona player left Ajaz this summer to seek a new challenge, having narrowly missed out on a fifth Eredivisie title, with Phillip Cocu's PSV Eindhoven pipping them to the league title on the final day of the season.

De Boer had been heavily linked with the Everton job following Roberto Martínez's sacking at the end of last season, however that role was given to former Southampton and Valencia manager Ronald Koeman.
