Gunners likely to give up on Icardi chase

Arsenal receive blow in Mauro Icardi pursuit

09 August 2016 - 16:53

New Inter Milan boss Frank de Boer has confirmed that Mauro Icardi will not be sold in this summer's transfer window. The Argentine has been strongly linked with the likes of Arsenal and Napoli in recent weeks.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • Reports had earlier suggested that the player could make his way to the Emirates with the Gunners willing to offer £30m plus Olivier Giroud for his services.

However, de Boer, who replaced Roberto Mancini at the helm this morning, says the 23-year-old would stick with the club for the upcoming campaign.

"We will keep the players who do not want to sell," he was quoted as saying by Goal.com "Icardi will remain. Mauro is young, can still learn and we will work very well together."

Icardi joined the Milan giants from Sampdoria in 2013, and has since netted 52 goals in all competitions.
