New Sunderland manager David Moyes has made a move to sign two players from his former side Manchester United, after having a bid accepted for young defenders Paddy McNair and Donald Love.

  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs

  • The Red Devils pair are in Sunderland today to undergo routine medical checks ahead of completing a £6 million double deal.

McNair made his first-team in 2014, and has gone on to make 24 Premier League appearances for the Old Trafford club. The 21-year-old Northern Irishman was selected to represent his country at the recent UEFA European Championship in France, where Michael O'Neill's men reached the first knock out round before losing 1-0 to eventual semi-finalists Wales.

Love, also 21, made his only Premier League appearance to date in a 2-1 defeat against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light last season, after being promoted to the senior squad by Louis van Gaal as the Red Devils were in the midst of an injury crisis which limited their defensive options.

Moyes has also been linked with moved for two other United players in Adnan Januzaj and Marouane Fellaini.

Moyes gave Januzaj his first team debut, and the Belgian youngster was one of United's best performers during the former Everton boss' time in charge at Old Trafford.

Fellaini was Moyes's first major signing as United boss, as he took the lanky midfielder from Everton for a fee of £27.5 million.
