James McCarthy heading for Everton exit

23 August 2016 - 07:02

Everton will listen to offers for unsettled midfielder James McCarthy this month. The Republic of Ireland international has lost his place in the starting line-up.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Man Utd serious about signing Rafael Leao
  • The 25-year-old was a key player for the Toffees under former boss Roberto Martinez.

But, with the arrival of Ronald Koeman, his place has come into question, with the Dutchman favouring the likes of Gareth Barry and Idrissa Gueye ahead of him for the central midfield role.

According to The Mail, the midfielder will seek fresh challenge in the transfer window with Watford, Sunderland, Newcastle United and Scottish champions Celtic all in the running for his services.

McCarthy has appeared in 115 games for the Merseyside outfit since joining from Wigan Athletic in the summer of 2013. He is currently valued at around &pound9m.
