Chelsea table £35m offer for Alessio Romagnoli

Chelsea have lodged a &pound35m bid to sign AC Milan centre-back Alessio Romagnoli. Blues boss Antonio Conte wants to bring in at least three players to his squad ahead of next week's transfer deadline.

According to The Mail, Conte has urged the Blues to intensify their search for new recruits with the transfer window nearing a close.

Romagnoli had previously been the subject of an approach from the Blues but the Rossoneri insisted that the player is indispensable to the club.

Nevertheless, the West London giants are willing to test Milan's resolve with a &pound35m offer which includes performance-based add ons.

The 21-year-old joined Milan from AS Roma for £21m last year, and it is believed that the Rossoneri will not accept anything less than &pound50m for his sale.

Chelsea are also keeping a close eye on Serbian international Nikola Maksimovic, who is desperate to part ways with Torino this month.
