Hammers target Loic Remy

West Ham eyeing Loic Remy

25 August 2016 - 05:45

West Ham United are considering a loan approach for Chelsea's Loic Remy after they failed in their attempts to sign a new striker this summer. Slaven Bilic's side are in a desperation stage after Andy Carroll joined Andre Ayew, and Diafra Sakho in the physio room.

  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • Summer signing Andre Ayew sustained a thigh injury in the Premier League opener against Chelsea, and this has ruled out until the festive period.

Meanwhile, Carroll and Sakho are carrying a knee and back problem respectively, and they are likely to be sidelined for the best part of five weeks.

Sky Sports News says the Hammers will push through a temporary deal for Remy this month as they seek sufficient back-up to young whizkid Jonathan Calleri.

Hammers' other option Enner Valencia is currently in the first-team mix, but his departure will be finalized once the club recruit a new marksman.

Calleri has been tipped to lead the line for West Ham United tonight when they take on Romanian side Astra Giurgiu in the second leg of the Europa League play-offs.
