Arsenal join Chelsea, Man Utd in Antoine Griezmann chase

19 September 2016 - 07:04

Arsenal are set to battle it out with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United for the signature of Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann. The Frenchman is assessing his future after Diego Simeone decided to cut short on his long-term contract.

  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players
  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts

  • The 25-year-old had penned a fresh five-year dealearlier this summer amid speculation of a potential exit from Vicente Calderon. He followed to suggest that he would stay put at the Spanish giants as long as Simeone remains in charge of the club.

According to The Star, the France international could make a surprise move to the Premier League next year after it emerged that Simeone would part ways with Atleti in 2018, a two-year reduction on his existing deal.

Manchester United and Chelsea were among the clubs in the running for the highly-rated striker, but it now seems that the Gunners have joined the chase for the player, who is likely to cost in excess of £80m.

Reports elsewhere suggest that Diego Simeone could take over the reigns from Arsene Wenger, and this may lure Griezmann to the Emirates next summer.

Wenger is the final 10 months of his Arsenal contract, and talks over an extension are yet to commence.
