Manchester United hope to put an end to their three game losing streak tonight, as they travel to take on Northampton Town in the third round of the EFL Cup.
Jose Mourinho will be hoping to snap his side’s three game losing streak as Manchester United take on League One side Northampton Town in the third round of the EFL Cup at Sixfields Stadium tonight.
The Red Devils have suffered a dismal treble of defeats at the hands of rivals Manchester City, Feyenoord and, most recently, Watford.
Any optimism that had been garnered from the club’s impressive start to the season, which included a Community Shield victory over Premier League champions Leicester City and three wins out of three to start the league campaign, has now been eroded, and fans feat that their team has not overcome the slump that began when Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013.
Mourinho has struggled to find his best eleven in the early weeks of the season, with switches in personnel and formation leading to a confused looking side who appear to be unsure of their instructions.
But as United travel to take on Northampton, who are currently 11th in League One, they will have the opportunity to get back to winning ways ahead of the visit of Leicester to Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
