Recent reports suggested that the Red Devils could release their skipper at the end of the season with interest high among clubs in China and Italy.

However, according to The Mirror, the Special One is in no hurry to offload the striker, and is prepared to keep him for the remainder of his contract.

Rooney has been warming the substitutes\' bench in recent games, but this could soon change with Zlatan Ibrahimovic struggling to find the net on a regular basis for United.

Manchester United have made a below-par start to the season, and are currently placed eighth with 15 points.
