West Bromwich Albion are prepared to offer an escape route to out-of-favour Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho. The France international has not kicked the ball for the Reds this season.

  • Sakho has been frozen out of Jurgen Klopp's side this term following his unprofessional behaviour in the club's pre-season tour of the United States.

According to The Liverpool Echo, the 26-year-old has given up hope of retaining his spot at Anfield, and will pursue his career at a fresh club elsewhere.

The Baggies are currently favourites to land the former Paris Saint-Germain man with a temporary deal being a probable option in the New Year.

Sakho was also the subject of a loan approach from Stoke City in the summer, and there could be further interest in his signature in the coming weeks.

The centre-half has been participating for Under 23 side over the past month with the view to improving on his match fitness.
