Sunderland have reportedly opened up negotiations with Anderlecht regarding a loan deal for Senegalese defender Kara Mbodji.
The Black Cats are currently restricted to just two domestic loan spots which have been filled by Mancunian duo Jason Denayer and Adnan Januzaj.
According to reports, manager David Moyes has jumped into the foreign market in search for defensive recruitments, and Mboji is at the top of his wishlist.
The centre-back is said to have a commanding presence at the back for the Belgian outfit, and this is something Moyes would prefer in his team following their dismal results this month.
Mboji is currently valued at around £8m, and Moyes is hoping to convince Anderlecht over a temporary deal with a view to buy at the end of the season.
Nevertheless, Sunderland will have to preserve their Premier League status this term if they are to receive the TV revenue to bolster their squad in the summer.
