Wenger to offer surprise start for this player against Hull

09 February 2017 - 06:02

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is likely to axe goalkeeper Petr Cech from the starting lineup following his goalkeeping shambles against Chelsea and Watford.

  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players
  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts

  • The Gunners faithful have expressed their discontent over the Czech's performance in recent days, and it appears that the club's hierarchy hold a similar view over the 34-year-old.

According to The Star, Wenger is set to replace Cech with David Ospina, who has been the Champions League specialist for the Gunners this term.

Ospina is due to face Bayern Munich in the Champions League round of 16 first leg in midweek, and the game versus Hull City could do a whole lot of good if he manages to keep a clean sheet.

Cech had seen a goal go past him via a deflection from a free-kick versus Watford whilst his passing was at question against Chelsea as he offered former Gunner Cesc Fabregas with an open goal to shoot at.

The former Czech international is well known for his exceptional reflexes between the sticks, but his recent performances have called for him being dropped from the lineup.

Meantime, a report from the Mail claims that Manchester City's Joe Hart could replace Cech as the number one at the end of the campaign.
