Benfica left back Alex Grimaldo is a target for Arsenal at the end of the season. According to reports, the Gunners want to make the Spanish defender their new long term left back.

  • Arsenal star to start from the bench for England vs Ghana
  • With Nacho Monreal coming into his 30's and Arsene Wenger shopping for a potential replacement, it is understood Arsenal scouts have recommended former Barcelona defender Alex Grimaldo as a perfect signing.

Grimaldo moved to Benfica in 2016 from FC Barcelona and has been in good form since his arrival in Portugal. Grimaldo has 2 and a half years remaining on his contract at his current club.

Benfica snapped up the defender for a bargain price of 1.75 million euros, but Barcelona retain first option to buy the player as part of that transfer deal.
