Diego Costa agrees new Chelsea deal?

15 February 2017 - 08:42

Spain international Diego Costa is set to put pen-to-paper on a fresh five-year deal which would make him the highest-paid player at Stamford Bridge.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Man Utd serious about signing Rafael Leao

  • The 28-year-old was the subject of interest from the Chinese Super League last month following a training ground bust-up with manager Antonio Conte.

Since then, the two have patched up, and the striker remains a key part of the Italian\'s plans as they head to the crunch stage of the campaign.

Conte has continuously insisted that everything is \'perfect\' between him and the player, and according to The Sun, Costa is set to show his commitment after he agreed a deal in principle over a five-year contract.

The former Atletico man is currently the Blues\' top-scorer with 15 goals this term, and he has been rewarded for his efforts with an improved &pound220,000-a-week contract with an additional £9m worth in bonuses.

Chelsea are currently eight points ahead of second-placed Manchester City in the table, and they will need to have Costa in top form if they are to maintain their gap ahead of what could be a testing period in their title pursuit.
