Real Madrid, Barcelona tracking Otamendi?

Real Madrid, Barca in for Otamendi?

Real Madrid, Barcelona tracking Otamendi?

20 February 2017 - 18:21

Real Madrid and Barcelona are both said to be keen on signing Nicolas Otamendi, according to the player's agent.

  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players
  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts

  • The Argentina international has appeared over 75 times for Manchester City since arriving from Valencia in the summer of 2015.

Otamendi has been a regular in the heart of the defence this term but his representative Martin Sendoa has sparked fresh speculation over a move to the European champions.

"Pepe is leaving Real Madrid and Otamendi fits the profile they are looking for. Jorge Mendes [Cristiano Ronaldo's agent] is also managing Otamendi in Europe," he told Radio Continental.

Meanwhile, in an interview with Spanish outlet La Vanguardia, Sendoa added that Barcelona are also in the pursuit of his client but the centre-back is, for now, content with his role at the Etihad.

He told the source: "Barcelona have also followed him since he was at Valencia. Nico is happy at Manchester City. But who wouldn't like to play at Real Madrid? It's the biggest club in the world."

Otamendi has been pretty much average during his 18-month spell at Manchester City, and the club could well be tempted to recoup the entire £32m sum paid to Valencia this summer.
