Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez could be the subject of interest from Liverpool during the summer transfer window.

  • The Algeria international netted 17 goals in 37 outings for the Foxes last term as they clinched a maiden and historic league title in grand fashion.

However, this season, he has failed to replicate his form, and this has largely affected the club's showing as they find themselves in a relegation fight.

According to Tuttomercato, the Reds will lodge an attempt to sign the attacker in the summer as they seek to add more options in the frontline.

Jurgen Klopp's side have lacked the necessary backup in the final third this season, and the absence of Philippe Coutinho and Sadio Mane at separate stages have affected their ambition of lifting a long-awaited title.

Injury-plagued striker Daniel Sturridge is due to be sold in the summer, and it is understood that Mahrez has been earmarked as the perfect fit to fill the void.

Mahrez was part of the Foxes' setup on Monday night where they clinched a convincing 3-1 win over Klopp's Liverpool at the King Power Stadium.
