Scottish keeper ignores Chelsea interest?

Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon has reportedly ended speculation over his future by agreeing to a new three-and-a-half year contract with the Scottish champions. The 34-year-old was a target for Chelsea during the backend of the winter transfer window.

  • Gordon, 34, had been the subject of a &pound3.5m bid from the Blues last January as they sought to find a replacement for Asmir Begovic, who was due to link up with Bournemouth.

However, Brendan Rodgers' side ignored the transfer interest, and this in turn denied stalled Begovic's move to Dean Court in the dying stages of the January window.

The Cherries, are nevertheless, expected to revive their pursuit in the summer with the Bosnian fed up with the lack of gametime at Stamford Bridge.

According to The Express, the Blues will have to pursue other options to replace Begovic this summer with Gordon having committed to the Hoops until 2020.

The Scotland international had been offered the chance to quadruple his &pound12,500-a-week wages at Chelsea, but it appears that Celtic have convinced him to stay put at Parkhead.
