Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata is set to be rewarded with a long-term contract after having impressed under Jose Mourinho this season.
The Spain international was initially expected to leave Old Trafford last summer owing to his alleged fallout with the Special One during his time at former club Chelsea.
However, the attacker has since insisted that his Stamford Bridge exit in January 2014 was purely due to footballing reasons, and it had nothing to do with his current head coach.
A report from The Star suggests that the 28-year-old is set to extend terms beyond 2018 with Mourinho impressed with the way he has adapted to his setup.
Mata was often criticised for his lack of work rate during his time at Chelsea, but he appears to have convinced Mourinho with his ability to find the all important goal in key games.
The Spaniard has turned out 140 times for the FA Cup holders since his switch from west London three years ago.
